@newreverie, my wife's not talking to me - that's better than the alternative. lol Actually, she's a good girl. After twenty-nine years of cohabitation, I seldom get 'that look' anymore from her, although when I do, it is now over the top of her glasses.

I was told that if I bring any more Booker's home I best have a cheque in hand from Beam for storage cost...the rest I can't repeat.

@Paddockjudge I hope your wife doesn't read this thread! I laughed at the glasses comment (I'm still smilling).

My wife is sometime complaining about my whisky collection (about 55 bottles) but that is nothing compare to the 10 000 books we have in the house (80% hers). So I let her say that I am excessive and smile... Then I buy another whisky! And she smiles! Good girl!

Does that mean that you don't want me to keep that extra bottle of the Booker's 2015-1 I got for you? Now what will I do with that bottle I bought? I guess at that ABV it will help clear all the biofilm in my old house's drains...

Down it goes..... don't try to stop me or anything....

As long as the bottles fit in my cabinet (and now the overflow cabinet) my wife seems to be tolerating my bad habit. but she's very happy when we have friends over who drink whisky, so that they can help me "get rid of " my collection...

She has remarked that the collection is growing a lot faster than I'm drinking and asked whether this makes economic sense. In a way she's right. What are the chances I'll ever drink from each bottle I own?

@Nozinan, Booker's is very versatile; however, using barrel strength bourbon to clean the household pipes is strictly forbidden. I'll save you a trip to the hazardous waste collection depot by taking immediate possession of that bottle.

Fear not. That bottle is as safe with me as it can be. In fact, less likely to be cracked than with many other bourbon lovers.

Pipes no, but a little would make excellent hand sanitizer.

Now before you get upset, think about it. When I use hand sanitizer, the first thing I want to do is wash my hands afterward. With Booker's hand sanitizer, you can disinfect your hand and then lick off the residue...

A Society bottle of 120.7, a 15 year old Hakushu matured in a 1st fill PX butt - I heard a lot of good things about the Society's Japanese malt bottlings.

A society bottle of 73.69, a 22 year old Aultmore matured in 2nd fill sherry butt - it was on special.

A society bottle of 53.216, a 21 year old Caol Ila matured in a refill butt - a mature Caol Ila in a refill sherry butt sounds absolutely interesting.

Was at the Honda dealership last night to pick up my mini-van...Down the road is a liquor store that I frequent once in a while...Since I've been on a bourbon craze for the last few weeks - I wanted to see if they had any Weller bourbon.

No luck on Weller, but at $25 the Elijah Craig 12 yr was too hard to pass up.

Well so far the hunt for booker's 2015-1 is unsuccessful. To compensate for my grief, the following were purchased: 4 roses private selection oesf 10yrs 55.5% single barrel Orphan barrel lost prophet and rhetoric Jefferson's Ocean 2nd voyage (see my review on this great bourbon) Jefferson's president 21 yr rye Willet xcf 1.0 7yr rye 51.7% Curacao finish E.H. Taylor barrel proof new ed 63.6% compared to my old 64.5% bottles The Macallan cask strength Last but not least booker's 2015-2

Yes my wife gave me the eye.... Still need to find that 2015-1

@newreverie that is one serious haul. I'll save you a Booker's 2015-01.

You must be married to angel if all you got was the eye while toting home that cargo. I'm fortunate in that respect too. My wife laughed at me the other day. I was having a rare evening nap (vacation) when my brother dropped by with four bottles of 2015-01 which he found about 200 miles away. Later, when I walked into the front room and discovered the four penalty boxes (hockey reference) she let out a little snicker. She's a good filly.

Are any of the following close in price to Booker's?

Orphan barrel lost prophet and rhetoric

Jefferson's Ocean 2nd voyage

Jefferson's president 21 yr rye

E.H. Taylor barrel proof new ed

@Nozinan, Booker's 2015-02, could it possibly be another great iteration of this True Barrel treat? Hard to believe it can get any better. When @newreverie opens his bottle, I'm sure he'll share his thoughts with us....please don't take too long.

I have come to the conclusion that there will be more excellent expressions than I will be able to safely drink.

And if each of the Booker's 2015 expressions is better than the last one, I don't know if my palate can handle those heights.

@newreverie, I like the way that one stacks up; G&W for Booker's. Go figure, Canadian headed north and Bourbon flowing south. Well, if I hand deliver the Booker's I'll be bringing a few other gems with me and the direction will be correct....you've gotta try Gibson's 18 YO, Danfield's 21 YO, and Highwood Ninety 20 YO...

@paddockjudge Well it seems my bourbon rampage is at an end. Found 2015-1 today. But it wasn't without paying a price. The specs within 10 minutes from my house has apparently started carrying a staggering assortment of signatory, Duncan Taylor and other scotch. I saw a 24 yr longmorn.... Paddock if you find your way to Houston we'll work out something for the GW. I'm starting to feel a bit like Nozinan. No doubt why I die long before my time, they will find me crushed under a pile of unopened booker's.

Safe and enjoyable trip to NYC resulted in the following purchases (thanks again to PaddockJudge and Robert99 for the Beekman's recommendation - it was a decent store, would have liked a little more selection) - Mortlach 11 Year Old Cask Strength (G&M Bottling), Caol Isla 15 Year Old (Unpeated Style) and Whistle Pig (Boss Hogg). To top it off, the LaGuardia Duty Free had a bottle of Talisker 57 Degrees North so splurged one more time.

While in Greenwich, a shop had a bottle of Pappy 25 - as a salute to Nozinan, that will be my 50th birthday present to myself.

If you REALLY want to salute me on your 50th, invite me over to try the PAPPY.... ;)

@paddockjudge @Nozinan Looking at the Jim beam website 2015-3 is coming out any day. The batch is called "center-cut" in reference to Booker's love of curing his own meat and that the barrels all came from the center of the warehouse. I've made room I my cabinet already. I plan to do reviews on the whole line of these booker's

@paddockjudge Houston needs your help to clear out some of the bottles I left on the shelves in my rampage. WP Boss hog 15yr, Smooth Ambler range including a 10 yr barrel proof, angels envy CS, Hedonism Quindecimus, and many many more. I need to get some whisky buddies in town to help carry the load.

Made another retailer stop today during a break in caring for an ailing in-law. Was looking to replace an empty Old Weller Antique 107 bottle with a full one. Retailer out of OWA 107 but noticed a nice Bookers display. Given the glowing reviews for Bookers 2005-1, was hoping to find one. Walked out with two bottles of 2005-1 and one of 2005-2 as well. Not yet a rabid bourbon fan but believe it never hurts to acquire quality whiskies.

A I finish of a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel (to wallow in my defeat of a lost pillow fight w my daughter and her friends), I will have a new strategy for my next US trip.

Instead of buying three bottles at US$100ish each, it will be one bottle at US$300. Something that has not been seen in Ontario.

Have Boston coming up in August so will be a nice way to start...
