@paddockjudge I must admit, I did regret, for a brief moment, that I had mentioned the store location; however, I know it is best to share the good news rather than try to keep it a secret. HA! Anyway, seven bottles is a good lot, and if there are any more when my friend goes back to Seattle, I am sure she will be all to happy to pick up more for me.
Actually, I have a bottle of the 07/12U opened. I am slowly enjoying this bottle because it is definitely one that ought to be appreciated over a long period of time. Sadly, I don't think I have any more of this particular batch.

@ajjarrett, I too have a bottle of 7/12 on-the-go. It was opened this summer for a special occasion and made available to a group of discerning whisky drinkers. Their ability to identify a good single malt among 30 - 40 other good whiskies was verified by the half-fill level of the N16YO 7/12. ....although there was one poser in attendance. He mixed some Alberta premium 30 YO Rye with ginger ale. I believe his name is Daeh Rekcep

@ajjarrett I think a 7 bottle haul would be a lifetime supply for me. Though if I had so many I might be tempted to open one once in a while. The only one from that batch... Knowing once it's gone it's gone....

@Nozinan @ajjarrett @paddockjudge - anyone have intel on the 12/14 batch?

@ajjarrett, if you could snatch up as many as you wanted, how many would you want in your stash to feel 100% comfortable with your supply?
Your hoarding here sounds similar to my recent hoarding of a personal favorite. On one hand, I love having a decade's worth of a great malt (and at a bargain price to boot)—but I'm also in the middle of moving, and I was just looking at this heap of long-term supply and thinking, "Do I really need this much? Does anyone???"

@MadSingleMalt truer words never spoken. It’s like a snowball rolling downhill at a certain point. That said - if you feel any of your collection is superfluous feel free to unload it on me.

@msudukie I don't. Actually, @casualtorture on Connosr had to draw my attention that there was such a batch. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it at any places I have been to.

@MadSingleMalt
That's a great question, and one that I have a difficult time (or at least somewhat difficult) thinking of a reasonable response. One good motivation for me to gather up as many as I can possible is because of the price it is still at. The second is, I know I thoroughly enjoy it, so I would rather put my money towards these than something else. Lastly, the other whiskies I enjoy are still readily available, at least for now. I must mention, I still buy other whiskies.

@ajjarrett, your answer features a conspicuous absence of an answer. :)

@MadSingleMalt
Here is another non-answer, but will express what I am thinking. If I had a few more dollars I could allocate to a few more bottles, say 3 or 4, I would definitely spend them. HA!

Springbank 18 yo. A Christmas present to myself.
Why? Well I love Springbank and I've been trying to get one or two more bottles of slightly older whisky in my collection. So two birds one stone so to speak. Springbank do a couple of releases a year of the 18 and they tend to sell out fairly quickly. Been Looking online for a few weeks on all the usual online stores and they had sold out. It's available in some places but for silly money. Anyway I located a bottle that wasn't for crazy money and my lottery syndicate pays out winnings every Christmas and I just got £75 so added a bit to it for a bottle of Springbank 18!

Old Pulteney 12. A gift for a friend and rookie malt head in training.

@BlueNote - Cannot go wrong with this, imo. The last bottle I had was the best I'd ever had and even sipped alongside Springbank 10 it was holding its own - seriously!

@RianC Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for it. I love the 17 too, but it's getting very pricey around here.

@BlueNote - Would like to try the 17 and is one on my list. It's around £80, which is high for me, but not too bad given its age and current prices.

@RianC I've been tempted but I'm still hesitant to buy something bottled at 40% ABV when there are so many others for a similar price and higher proof and non chill-filtered, no colouring etc....But that is high praise from you.....

@MadSingleMalt
I look at my individual bottle supplies and wonder if I have enough for a lifetime, and the answer is probably no. I can probably go through 4-5 bottles of each of my favourite malts before I die. So from that standpoint, stocking up makes sense.
However, looking at the collection in total it's clear to me I'll never drink it all. So stocking doesn't make sense.
I think I would save a lot of money and drink just as well if I used a "just in time" protocol and kept my open cabinet full of stuff I like. I'd spend more money per bottle, but spend less in total.
Strange hobby...

@MadSingleMalt Yes, a Big investment, but these whiskies will be impossible to find in a short while. Three of them are among my favourite whiskies and the fourth - Compass Box No Name - has got really high scores in tests I’ve read, so I have high hopes for that one!

Not a purchase but a trade, this was on my wish list so I was very happy to make the trade.

Just received Benromach 10 year old 100 Proof, because I have heard nothing but good about it; Kilchoman 100% Islay, because I don't think it's possible to go wrong with Kilchoman; and Kilkerran 12, because I'm just about finished the first one and I love it. Merry Christmas to me.

Found a full size bottle of Punjabi Club rye. Looks like Canadian Club is branching out. This is bottled at 50%, NAS, and I know nothing about it.
At another store we found mix and match miniatures, 4 for $10. Picked up a small one to try (no need for a full size bottle unless it's good). Also picked up Red Shank Irish, and Chinook (unaged) whisky, which claims to be the finest soft sipping whisky.
And we found some Lemon Hart 151, and right next to it, and less expensice, Lamb's Navy rum 151 proof. So we snapped that up and hanging on the neck of the bottle was a mini of Wiser's Deluxe.
So I hope to add a few quick reviews to my series of minis this week. And I'm really looking forward to seeing if the Lamb's 151 is as good as the Lemon Hart. If I can't get it to my home, at least I can have it at my brother in law's.
While at one store (where I tasted some Octomore 6.1), we met a fellow who told us about a small mom-and-pop shop that has some great finds. You can be sure we'll be heading there...

@RianC @BlueNote I enjoy the 12yo Old Pulteney quite a bit, and certainly does holds it own when sitting next to other SMWs. As for the 17yo, that is a 'fabulous' dram, but I agree with you all that it is quite pricey. Although I cannot remember the source, I believe the 17yo and the 21yo have been discontinued, or will be soon. I think if I had the money for it, I would buy a bottle of the 17yo ahead of other things on my whisky list, just for future drinking.

@BlueNote The Benromach 10yo Imperial proof is definitely one to have in a whisky library. I enjoy that it, and I plan to always have a bottle of it readily available. It just has the right-level of peat for my taste, and with a little water the fruity notes come out from behind the peat even more.

@Barnbip In a word, "Impressive." My level of envy reading this thread just went up a few notches.

@ajjarrett - You are 100% correct - the OP 17 and 21 are discontinued.
