N.B. this is a variant of A Steal of a Deal, 781 postings and 7 years old:

Though for hard to find stuff that pops up it would be useful to post its availability, even if the price is not a steal....

@Nozinan I agree. It would be worth having a separate thread for what is available right now, at what price and where. @Victor is right, the Steal of a Deal thread is similar. But those deals are often one offs or dusties found in some obscure little outlet. This new thread would focus on products available to the general public in accessible outlets and in decent quantity.

@BlueNote the one off unique bottling in all honor. I meant this to be more general, and myself I could obviously only post what's in the UK.

@RikS Agreed, and I think you are onto a good idea. We could all benefit from that kind of information as it pertains to our own regions.

Ocado (UK) has a special offer: 4x20cl Johnnie Walker Collection black, gold, platinum and blue. Normal price £100 and now 50% off with voucher code = £50.
What's the verdict... worth it at that price?
6 years ago 0
@RikS It's sure as hell not worth 100 pounds! But probably worth 50 if you like JW. I think I would just buy a bottle of Green Label for probably around 50 pounds or less.

@BlueNote Yes, I'm not really that well versed with JW so I think I'll pass.. though, I've seen quite good comments for the Green which is now back. And that one is regularly on offer here for about £30. All that said, I have quite a list I want to get before going to JW...
But... maybe there's a JW lover out there that will be happy with the offer, so I thought I'd share! :)

@Wierdo - I picked one up a month ago with the new (new) packaging. Still a decent whisky (I'm having a nip as I write) but I'd say this is smokier and less sweet/honeyed than the last bottle; not getting much of a coffee note either. Perhaps a little less enjoyable than my bottle from two years ago.

I am not sure if Hi-Time Wine Cellars, located in California, delivers to Canada (and if it does how much it will cost fr shipping), but it is selling the Glenlivet 16yo Nadurra Batch No. 0814D for 64.99 USD, and it shows that they still have 73 bottles in stock. For those in the US, you will definitely have to check if your state is eligible for delivery. I haven't ordered from them yet, but I might give it a go, after I return from Tokyo. I need to save up for that trip.

@ajjarrett That's just mean! You should know by now we can't ship to Canada...
6 years ago 0
@ajjarrett Hmmm. I could get a couple shipped to the in-laws in Oregon and have them bring them up. Although, now that I do the math, that's about $85 Can plus shipping. I think it's available in Oregon for around $80 US, about $105 Can.
Let us know how it turns out if you decide to do it.

@Nozinan Ah yes, I should have remembered after reading all the posts on a variety of threads. We need a new free trade agreement to make shipping whisk(e)y between our two nations "free."
6 years ago 0
@BlueNote Will do.
I would also say if it is still available in your area and at a reasonable, then there is no need to consider this place.

@ajjarrett Haven't seen it here for quite a while now. Only the various NAS versions now.

@BlueNote That's unfortunately becoming a common theme, both in threads and among a growing number of distilleries.

@ajjarrett most of the South has very archaic and stupid laws when it comes to liquor.

@casualtorture I guess we all live with trials and tribulations, which seem, or are, impossible to overcome.

Maybe not earth shattering, but Lagavulin 16 is now down to £46 on Amazon uk which is the best price I've seen (compared to £43 at dutyfree)

KWM in Calgary will have a 10% and up on all spirits sales starting Friday May 18 to May 20, they do deliver out of Alberta. Sales does not include SWS whiskies. Check on their website tomorrow. Cheers.

@RikS you can buy liquor on Amazon?? Why is this not a thing here?
6 years ago 0
My online purchase experience is only limited within Alberta, as our prices is very compatible to the rest of Canada and I don't think we can have liquor deliver out of Canada. That's why Amazon is not included.
6 years ago 0
@casualtorture yes you can buy spirits from Amazon. If you have Amazon prime you can get free next day delivery as well!

@WtoW Just checked the KWM Malt Messenger. Some excellent deals at up to 35% off.

Octomore 7.3 on amazon.co.uk for £132
I opened my first bottle of this last night when friend came over.
Sensational whisky.
Tempted to get another.

@Nickh initially I though the octomore was a gimmick but seems it is very appreciated!

@casualtorture - Sorry to butt in but yes and it's a double edged sword . . .
They generally have good availability and if you're on Prime, as i was, free delivery with most buys. My credit card almost became an endangered species! I still use it but try to look at it sparingly as they often do great deals on solid buys like Wild Turkey 101, Ardbeg 10, Benromach 10 etc which are just to hard to refuse . . .
Self-control isn't my forte

I haven't seen this subject, but could come handy for those - like me - who like to spot a real good deal. In the past I've posted that Ocado had Glenmorangie 18 for 50% off, two weeks ago Sainsbury had HP12 for £22, and I just saw a reference that Maker's Mark is 50% off at heathrow.
So, I thought it could (?) be good to have a thread where we can inform each other of great offers spotted?
