@Victor...I lucked out with an opportunity to try Laphroaig 10 at a restaurant in Toronto last week. I had known about the event locale for awhile so I checked out the restaurants on-line menu and 'targeted' the Laph 10 as the one that I wanted to try. I truly enjoyed the smokiness, and relative (for a 10 yo, especially) smoothness of the dram. However, my luck ran out when I asked for a 2nd as the waitress advised that their bottle had been finished and they could not get anymore from the LCBO...indeed, the 10 yo is not available on LCBO shelves at all!

Highland Park 12 and Old Pulteney 12 side by side. Started with Highland Park 12 and found the finish sweeter than I recalled in the past. The bottle has been open about 6 months. Oh, is that Old Pulteney malty and it always pleases me. Returning to the Highland Park after tasting the Old Pulteney, the peat was more apparent in the Highland Park, but still rather slight. For the first time, I added a drop of water to the Highland Park and found the the flavours expanded. Yum.

Finally opened a Brora 30 year old I'd been keeping for a few years to celerate my 50th Birthday next week! Oh yeah, worth the wait and the ribbing I'm getting for turning 50.

@Wodha Turning 50 myself this year. I would probably celebrate with something younger. ;) ;)

@Dramlette I also decided to haul out the HP12. I will add that drop to see the differrence. @Victor had suggested the Old Pultney and I am anxious to try but I can't find it down here in S. Fla. Enjoy!

Good day at the races. Yamazaki 12 and Bowmore Darkest. I love how the Yamazaki makes my mouth salivate.

I started the evening off with a very little dram of Wiser's Legacy to get warmed up, and now to celebrate the purchase of a new watch today, a dram of one of my favourites: Lagavulin 16.

Smoking a 9 lbs pork shoulder and baby back ribs on my new smoker and sipping some Ardbeg ANB. Smoky and slightly sweet just like my bbq.
@michaelschout, Congrats on your new watch! Paired with a lovely Lagavulin. A nice watch, a great whisky and a fine cigar=estoy contento

@whiskyshiba ... Now you're making me hungry! I'll bring the cedar plank salmon and the Talisker, if you bring the smoked pork / baby back ribs and the Ardbeg ANB.
In answer to the question, right now, I'm drinking a 9 year Laphroaig from the Whisky Society (29.88). Perfect combination of sherry and smoke!

On Friday evening I opened the bottle of HP hjarta that I bought at the distillery 2 years ago. That's what I'm drinking now.

@Pudge72 They are still stocking Laphroaig 10 here in Manitoba (MLCC) but have pulled Glenfarclas 105 and Bowmore Tempest. Tried to get the discontinued ones but they are already spoken for. I'll have to get a bottle of Laphroaig 10 before that too is discontinued.

@Lars, we're in the same situation in Ontario with Bowmore Tempest being marked as discontinued. It is my next LCBO purchase, though I am not sure when that will be as I will making some purchases in the US over the next couple of months. The odd thing about Tempest is that it is now seemingly being introduced in a couple of the US shops that I peruse on the internet...for about $5-$10 more than the LCBO!!!

Currently, Bruichladdich 12 2nd Ed ... so malty, creamy, sweet and smooth ... softer than the Old Pulteney 12, which is malty, salty and lively (nice in its own right) ! And right before, some peated malts: Ardmore Trad Cask, Compass Box Peat Monster (meow), Caol Ila 12, Laga 16 (yum), Talisker 18, Springbank 10 (a favorite), Longrow CV (a favorite) and Bruichladdich PEAT. No smoke detected in Tal 18 (very nice), Laddie PEAT was the fireplace-type smokiest and different (nice).

Auchentoshan 21 and Glenkinchie 20. Both great lowlanders. I feel that the Glenkinchie is slightly more complex with less cinnamon than the Auchentoshan. Love them both.

At the moment i am switching between my bottles of Yamazaki Puncheon, Jura Superstition and BenRiach Curiositas. I recently took the plunge and decided to have more than one bottle open at a time, and i am making the most of it!

1964 Bowmore Gold. A toast to my dearly departed friend. Rest in Peace. A sad sad day.

just did a H2H between a glenfiddich 15 and an aberlour 10. I think the 'fiddich is better both on the nose and the palate. It's certainly more complex, exhibiting a wider palette of fruity and spicy notes.
