I am, sadly, just about out of brown liquor of any sort. Recently discovered (and finished) a bottle of very nice Iowa Bourbon.

It's a cool Friday night in Atlanta, young spring weather, so I'll stick with the tens. Springbank 10 year 100 proof then a little 10 year old Laphroaig. But it's a little bitter sweet. Robert Earl Keen on the cd player, good whisky in the glass, but nothing left in the bottle. God bless good music, good whisky and Southern nights.

Aberfeldy 12: Why does this one continue to blow my mind? It's damn near perfect.

Big Peat, a glorious blend of Ardbeg, Bowmore, Coal Ila and Port Ellen.
For you Islay fans it's well worth tracking down a bottle before they all disappear!

Diet coke at the moment. I can't decide between a new to me Bowmore or kentucky spirit.

Mother's Day BBQ today. Will be starting off with Glenfiddich 12 yr, wine with supper and ending with Bowmore Darkest I think. I love Sundays.

Basil Hayden's - Not too bad, but not a fiery beast like the Booker's I've been drinking recently.

Had friends over tonight, and we finished my Aberlour Vintage 1993 and I've been left with small amounts of Laphroaig 10 and Glenmorangie Original. Well worth it.

Balvenie 12 Year Old Double Wood. I've read mixed reviews so I wanted to see what I could make of it.
So far so good.

Today, I started with the Jim Beam Devil's Cut review, and next I have been sipping on Old Potrero 18th Century Style Whiskey, Old Pulteney 12, Highland Park 12, Highland Park 15, and Clynelish 14. Very interestingly, my one-year-open bottle of HP 12 has recently really opened up its flavours and become sweeter. It is the best it has been, now, after a year. Delicious. Also very interestingly, my one-year-open bottle of Clynelish 14 actually appears to be losing much of the bitter taste I have encountered on its finish. It is quite lovely. Cheers, Connosrs!

@Wodha, Excellent choice. It makes sense, a peat monster from Oregon. The Oregon weather and coastline reminds me of the Scottish coastline.
Here's a recent review..

So last night, digging through my stash, I came across a bottle of Macallan 18 that I had entirely forgotten I had. With nothing else in the offing, I decided to pour a dram... only to have the cork break in half as I tried to open it. Horrors! There was nothing for it but to push the remaining cork through, strain the remaining whisky into a ceramic pitcher, and hope for the best.
I had my dram - as lovely as anything - and now I have a few pours left in the pitcher. I may share it with a couple of friends, if they're very lucky.

Summer has finally shown up!! So I'm outside sipping a Glennfiddich 12 yr and reading a book waiting for company to show up for a BBQ.

Just had a dram of Jameson 12yo in a bar. As @Victor puts it, "a very sippable blended whiskey". It's not the first time I'm having this particular expression, however it never ceases to impress. Delicate, smooth and very spicy. A great ambassador of the irish cause.

@golux13, I agree with your assessment about the Mac18. The Mac18 is the "Johnny Walker Blue" of single malts; catches a lot of hate but I'm sure people secretly love it...lol

I have just poured a bottle of Ola Dubh ('Black Oil') ale, from Harviestoun Brewery. This particular bottle (#0008161, bottled in February 2010) is finished in casks previously used to house Highland Park 12 y.o. I'll let you all know more about it in the 'Whisk(e)y Related Products' discussion thread in the next couple of days. The first sips say 'wow, the whisky barrel finish really works!!'...
My most recent whiskey dram was a Bushmills Black Bush on Saturday night while relaxing in front of the TV...very enjoyable.

@Pudge72, thank you again for the whisky aged beer which you gave to us in Canada. It was delicious. Actually I have not yet had any beer matured in any sort of whisk(e)y cask that I did not like. Cheers!

@Victor...you are more than welcome...it was a well deserved 'thank you' to the three of you for a wonderfully generous, educational, and quite enjoyable whisk(e)y tasting session!
