Two Indie Bunnahabhain on sherry: 8 Year Old First Fill Sherry Butt versus 36 Year Old Fino Sherry Cask. The latter is brown toast with ripe banana slices covered in light brown sugar. Wonderful!

Connemara Cask Strength with a dinner of iron pot cooked chicken and potatoes in red wine. After dinner I'm drinking Cardhu listening to Bach's Brandenburg Concerto. I am living the fancy life!

My old standby, Teacher's Highland cream. Good quality at a great price.

@Victor I've never been to The Palm, but I hear very good things about it. How does it compare to 1789 Restaurant in DC?

Laphroaig Quarter Cask. LOve it! One of the best when it comes to price in relation to quality I'd say :)

@chuck51, The Palm is a movers and shakers steak and seafood restaurant with (in the DC location) a lot of politico people-watching: a loud red-meat eating crowd. 1789 serves contemporary American cuisine in an elegant and more tame early Federalist American atmosphere. Both are highly enjoyable, but offer very different experiences. Neither restaurant offers a very broad whisky selection.

Last night I tried my first Grant's Family Reserve blended Scotch. It's nice that such a good whisky is so inexpensive (here). It cost me $ 26 for 1.75 Litres. Jim Murray is right-- Grant's does have a great nose.

Connemara Cask Strength! Momma beat me with a wooden spoon! It's quite good. Distinctly Connemara. Full power. I suggest you try it if you like Irish whisky.

My local Tavern has Dalwhinnie 15yo. on special for Au. $59.95, a saving of $25.00, so I had to buy one, despite having 'blown' the Christmas budget well and truly!
I'd forgotten just what a fine drop Dalwhinnie is with its' balance, crisp elegant (almost brittle) palate and superb long Whisky finish. The delightful no nonsence nose heralds an experience in beautifully crafted Whisky and what follows does not disappoint: The best Dalwhinnie (that I've tasted) since the lovely Centenary Edn. and that was pretty special. This is as good as. Rarely do I find this degree of balance - Everything in harmony and quite delicious with just a hint of malty sweetness. I'll certainly be back for more.
According to the Tavern staff, this is their least favoured brand (?) That I don't understand!
Seasons Greetings and Best Wishes to all members. Stay Safe.

Old Pulteney 21 year old... I've got to be honest, I think it's good, but it's not my favorite.

Caol Ila 12. A longer finish would add to the initial and hearty explosion. A decent dram though I think they have better in their range.

I'm giving the Glenmorangie range a go this week, starting with the Original and ending with the Signet. 11 Drams in total.

Just settling down to a Compass Box sampler. Samples of Hedonism, Peat Monster, Spice Tree, Oak Cross, and Asyla. If I can, ;), I will report later on the results.
Merry Christmas folks.

Cadenhead's Classic Islay Pure Malt. An unusual dram. I need more time with this one to figure out how I feel about it.
