...and then there was Christmas 'bounty'! Among several familiar Whiskies was a bottle of Glenfiddich 12yo.1Ltr. 43%: This is a very different 'drop' to their 40% signature, standard Whisky. It was a Christmas and birthday gift from the oldest girl who probably had this in the pantry since her last overseas trip.
What an excellent Whisky; and so different from the standard fare as to be unrecognizable as a G/F! And what a sensible size bottle - 'Lets you have a good sized dram and a good sized 'think' and a good few return trips...Splendid!

Had a little bit of Bunnahabhain 12 Year old last night brought over for Christmas dinner by my eldest brother. From the little I had (not feeling well) I won't be buying a bottle.

Benriach 12. It's ok. Nothing to write home about. Nothing to complain about.

@two-bit-cowboy -- Are you sure? What do you say I bring up some 27 yr cask strength Bunny when it gets just a bit warmer?

@RobertH works for me!
I've yet to try the "new 18" 46.3%er -- maybe next month in Victoria. That 27 CS sounds dangerous (in a good way).

High West Rendezvous rye, with a review posted.
An Armagnac: Domaine du Chiroulet 15. Strong porto on the nose, and strong porto and warmth on the finish. The palate, however, is quite light and moderately sweet. Very different from my previous Armagnac (Château du Tariquet VSOP), and very enjoyable.

Casa Noble Reposado Tequila. Dramlette likes it better than I do. I much prefer the Casa Noble Anejo.
And, to follow, a little Baker's Bourbon and some Pappy Van Winkle 20.

Yes, @RobertH, Pappy 20 has a great nose and is oh so gentle in the mouth.

@Victor, It's my anniversary on the 1st and that may be a lovely bottle for the Mrs and I to have with dinner.
Thank you for the idea. :)

Black Bowmore. Yep. Really.
Will review on All Things Whisky in the coming days, but doubtless the greatest whisky I've ever had.

@antihero That's along the lines of US$400 a dram. Do you think it's worth that?

Ben Nevis Single Cask, Cask Strength 12 Year old. Better than I'd hoped. Now Connemara Cask Strength.

@antihero I'm glad to hear your actually going to drink it and not let it sit on a shelf to be sold at a later date.

@Wodha Price is all relative. Is it worth THAT much? Up to the buyer, I suppose. I CAN say you will get these flavors in 1 10, 15, even 20 year old dram.
I have tasted both of the 70 y.o.s (Mortlach and 'Livet) as well as countless old and rare others and I can absolutely say this is the best.

@antihero Sorry...that was meant to say you will NOT get these flavors...

@bUIGEman, there are many of us who loved your father, Whiskyshiba. Dramlette, I, and quite a few others here are big fans of his. Hello Chris, in the true land of the Spirits!!! Thank you for letting us know of his passing.
