A trio of Americans, starting off with 1792 Ridgemont Reserve (bit of a bruiser), a Willett 5 year old single barrel rye (interesting but still needs some time to open up and soften up the edges) and the Weller Antique 107. I saved the best for last.

Talisker 57deg. Fabulous in all department - Never have I seen such legs; thick, oily slow, closely spaced, very even and bursting with aroma.
This expression fairly sizzles, explodes on the tongue and the best part 'hangs around' in a symphony of a finale that captures the essence of this magic drop. Too many flavours to single one out. The balance and the power are simply amazing...I like this one!
My overall impression is smoke, peat, low-tide seaweed, more salt and less peper and all in balance with a sweetness (heather, perhaps) that rounds out the palate and drips flavour. The nose says it all. What you smell is what you get: The nose promises much and the Whisky delivers & I've got best part of a litre.

Last night went to a scotch tasting to break my self imposed January dry month early. Highlights included a 19 year old St Magdalene and an 18 year Port Ellen. The headache I have this morning was totally worth it :-)

My dad and I are partaking in a bottle of Macallan Cask Strength. It's very powerful but very good.

I currently have 13 bottles open, and consume randomly depending on mood or company . The only region I do not have represented in the current collection is Lowland .

@A.J. : You will find a lot of support for 'Auchentoshan' on this forum and not without good reason.
Cheers.

A dram of Laphroaig 10 while at a local bar waiting for a screening of my friend's film to begin - then a wee bit of Blanton's at home before bed!

@Lee I have a bottle of the Glenfarclas 105 sitting on my shelf and I'm waiting for the right moment to open it. Should I wait long? I'm staring at it with a Talisker 57 North in my hand. Not sure I want to put this one down just yet...

tabarakRazvi - nothing to wait for - the 105 is great!! I am currently enjoying another Cask Strength: Lagavulin 12 - Hallelujah moment

A co-worker filled my wish-list and got me the Balvenie Portwood. I loved it when I first tried it as I just started my whisky tasting hobby....just waiting for the right moment for us to re-acquaint ourselves....

A big, before dinner glass of GlenDronach 14 Virgin Oak. There seem to be lots of bourbon oak matured whiskies that work well before a meal, but I'm not so sure but what this betters the lot of them.

@Victor Redbreast 12, Connemara Cask Strength, Laphroaig 10. Sounds like my kind of line-up.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. A friend opened a 1liter for us.. Two hours later it was 1/3 full and we had discussed everything from Scotch to politics, with food, travel, kids, Superbowl, European cars, dogs and furniture in between. I must say: It's mighty mighty and lettin' it all hang out. Highly recommend this one.

I opened up a bottle of Auchentoshan Three Wood yesterday. My first Toshan and recommended to me by our own @markjedi1 a.k.a 'Toshanman'. Great recommendation Mark, and followed nicely The Macallan 10 Year Old sherry wood I opened last weekend.

Enjoying a glenfarclas 15 thanks to a sample from @thecyclingyogi. My first 'farclas is living up to my expectations. Tiny bit bitter on the finish, but still great.
