About to finish a bottle of Talisker 10, and quite sad. However, I have a bottle of Talisker Distiller's Reserve awaiting the perfect moment to be opened.

I poured myself a Dram of Auchentoshan Valinch - even at cask strength it's so drinkable. Smooth, fresh, creamy with citrus and herbal notes. Sweet...thanks @markjedi1 for the recommendation. I think I'll Be having a wee bit of my Single Cask 21 year old Bladnoch next and compare them - or maybe Yamazaki 12 ?

After a wonderful evening with @Victor @Dramlette and Gene's sister I am reminiscing with a Bookers. I was lucky enough to break bread with them and have them take me on a tour of fine American whiskies.

Old Weller Antique 107, deliciously uncomplicated and soothing after the somewhat harrowing drive back from Toronto with @Victor and his sister. After checking out the whisky selection at the duty free, driving just south of Buffalo, the snow quickly turned into a white out for a while. After 10.75 hours of driving, I am happy that we are safely home and asked @Victor to pour me a dram. Ahhh...

Many thanks to @Talexander, @cyclingyogi, @cpstecroix & @misslauren for sharing many wonderful whiskies and their wonderful selves. Namaste!

Had, for the first time, Evan Williams Green tonight. It was nothing truly spectacular, but a very decent drinkable bourbon at an extremely attractive price - about $9 per bottle here. Since we are at the beginning of Mardi Gras season here in New Orleans, encountering a reasonably priced whiskey is always good to find when guests and visitors come over. Had a taste of Old Crow as well, and that is another decent and well priced bourbon ($9.99 per bottle) when you have guests.

This evening, after a Valentine's Day dinner with my daughter and some friends, I'm enjoying a quiet glass of Ballantine's 17 Years Old. Why? Because it rhymes with................

After my wife indulged my love of the immortal slider by taking me to White Castle (with tablecloths, flowers on table, mandatory reservations, and servers) there was only one pour that felt appropriate when I got home.....Ardbeg Alligator !

As my wife is on her way to Kentucky to find a few bottles of bourbon, something to do with Buffalo Trace and some experimental mumbo jumbo, I am settling down with a nice glass of the Yamazaki 18. MMMM!

@666ppm, please tell me about the Redbreast 12 c.s - I´m a huge fan of the regular 12 and the old 15 bottling. Is it worth the price (it´s € 62,- in Austria) ?

I'm drinking Glenfiddich 15yo. D.E. and it is sensational. 'Came in a litre bot. ex. Brisbane Duty Free & didn't show much promise when opened; it was flat, locked up and had been bottled for a very long time, if the cork was any thing to go by. It was grey green and bone dry.

I decanted 1/2 into a large decanter and left the rest in the bottle but I never expected this Whisky to ever be anything but 'ordinary'!

Six weeks later and I have a veritable 'Herb Garden in a bottle'...where did all the goodies come from? I know not! It is now a magnificent Malt with one of the most delicious and fragrant herbal noses I have encounted and the rest of the Whisky is splendid and in the glass just grows and grows and grows...

Never write your Whiskies off! My initial reaction was, "God, this is dreadful stuff"...Now, it isn't!

Slainte!

Lagavulin 16, just purchased and opened this evening. I was planning on picking up a Bruichladdich 18 I'd sampled last Friday with @Victor, @Dramlette, and @thecyclingyogi courtesy of @talexander (thanks to all for a wonderful evening!), but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be available locally at the moment. Somehow the Lagavulin doesn't seem like much of a concession...

@misslauren, which Bruichladdich did you taste - the first or the second Edition; I really like the Willy Opitz sweetwine Cask finish (which is the 1st Edition).
