Lots of sampling this evening, but the highlights being Macallan Cask Strength, Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, and a new bottle of Glendronach 15 Sherry Revival ... all with 72% dark chocoate of course :) Looks like a lovely warm weekend here in Michigan :)

Clynelish 10 Adelphi bottling single cask, cask strength. 60% ABV. Dark as syrup. Thick as thives. One dram is enough.

This morning on the golf course I had some Balvenie 15 yr single barrel. This evening before a movie I had a bit of Laphraoig 18yr. Now, I'm drinking Lagavulin 16yr. Lagavulin is so good.

A break from Scotch ... heresey ... pushing the envelope ... I've been sipping Ararat 10 year Aratta Armenian Brandy 42%, 12-year Aratta Armenian Brandy 40%, and Vaspourakan (Ararat) 18 year Armenian Brandy 40%. These are exquisitely delicious, and even better yet with dark chocolate !! Maybe Connosr will add brandy to its database in the future :-)

PC7. ...and I'm not convinced. Dank. A lot of wood. Some good smoke in this beast (61%) and peat, but also a bit overwhelming. Of course a bit of water helps. I need to come back to this one in a few days.

A magnificent evening of rye tasting. Sazerac 18 2010, Van Winkle Family Reserve 13, Sazerac 6 and Russell's Reserve Rye 6. If the ultimate Van Wink 13 or Saz 18 is not in your budget, then Saz 6 will do you very well ... with Russell's a close runner up.

It is Friday evening, and I will be having my favourite Canadian whisky, Wiser's Legacy. Also I expect to sample some Old Pulteney 12 and some Old Potrero 18th Century Style (rye) Whiskey.

Damn, @RoberH, I am getting ahead of myself! I guess I am already eagerly anticipating tomorrow night's evening at Acadiana Restaurant in DC which has a great whisky tasting menu-- quite modest for malts, but great for bourbons and ryes. I am hoping they still have some of that astonishing 23 yo Willett Rye, The IRON FIST. I just laugh when I drink it, because I don't know how to put words to what is in my mouth!

A workout at the gym, a few lengths at the pool and a tandoori takeaway are all that stand between me an my inaugral sampling of the Old Pulteney 17 year old. Bring it on!

@Victor Ok Victor, it's Friday! :)

I plan on doing a flight tasting taking me from Utah, to Tennessee, then to Scotland, and finish up in India all in one evening. I am worried about the jet lag.

@RobertH, bon voyage! I expect that any "jet lag" that you will experience will be only of the highest quality. Cheers!

It's twenty to seven on a Friday evening - time to open the bar! A little Ardmore Traditional Cask for me to get things going.

Watching a few Mad Mens on DVD tonight, always gets a man in the mood for drinking. A 27 year old single cask Teaninich from Bladnoh Forum and a 21 year old Dailuaine from Berry Bros & Rudd have accompanied me through the evening. Though I did consider making up an Old Fashioned, Don Draper style.

@dougwatts Oh, my absolute favorite show. I think you'll be conforming to the atmosphere of the show no matter what, as Draper also likes whisky neat.
I'm having some friends over for a sampling of the expressions in my cabinet, along with two that I just picked up today...

@dougwatts how rude of me :)

I fortified my existing cabinet with Lagavulin 16 and the apparently rather obscure Stronachie 12. I'm creating a new discussion to see if anyone can provide some insight on the Stronachie 12....
