We finished off a bottle of Black Bull 12 today. As a sipper it's a kick in the teeth. My GF liked to use it for a variation on a Dark and Stormy though. We may buy another bottle if it proves to be a better mixer than the things we currently have on the shelf.

The first full size bottle for my whisky cabinet, gifted to me for Christmas 2010 by a good friend (thank you Chris!), was Glen Breton 10 yo. Its' last dram was drunk alongside a sample (kindly provided by @theconscience...thank you!!) of Glen Breton Ice 17 yo, a couple of weeks ago.

While the profile of the GB 10 was not my favourite, it was a very interesting bottle that I will always remember fondly (both for the gift of the bottle, and for the fact that my wife and I visited the distillery in August, 2010).

A simple bottle of the Jura which I found quite lovely, and that gave way to opening one of my favorites, a Glenrothes 91. Which serendipitously enough, was shown on a new series I am watching called Lillyhammer (Episode 2)

A couple of blends - a bottle of Campbeltown Loch (won't be missed), and a bottle of Whyte & Mackay 13 (already missing it!).

A standard 10yo. Ardbeg. It was good but , to me seemed just a little 'dumbed down' when compared to previous examples from this august distiller, more especially when compared to Corryvrekan. It is certainly good but when comparisons are made, it does seem a little one dimensional - Perhaps this is what happens when there are so many special editions (?)

Just finished my second bottle of Laphroaig 10 year old. Even though I have a good 12 bottle of Quarter cask left it was still very sad. It will be replaced in the coming weeks with a bottle of Laphroaig 6 year old "uncensored" 62.4% which sounds interesting.

That's half a bottle of Quarter Cask left, not 12 bottles (I wish).

What did you think of the Smokehead? I'm about quarter of the way through my bottle and enjoying it.

@sepsism -- I've wanted a bottle since the first time I tried it. I'll probably buy another bottle at some point.

Finished a Redbreast 12 year old last night. Within the next couple of months I'm going to try to find the cask strength version and replace it with that.

Just finished off a 2007 Eagle Rare 17 year. Probably one of the best ER's of the BTAC collection I've had.

@RobertH and @michaelschout, yes, Redbreast 12 Cask Strength IS most definitely fabulous!

To use technical jargon, it has "oomph" out the "wazzoo". High test stuff. And delicious.

McClellands Islay. In Canada (BC) this is a great every day dram for the price.

I've just finished a small bottle of Bit Peat, a blended malt whisky containing malts from Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and even some Port Ellen. It was given to me simply for being Glenross Whisky's 1000th Twitter Follower. I finished yesterday while tidying the garden. My notes can be found here: whisky-discovery.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/…

Just finished Knockando 18 / Springbank 10 and Highland Park 1990 20 year old.

Knockando 18 felt a bit dull, no complexity whatsoever. Not bad though.

Springbank 10 was my favorite, and I got it only at 33€ !

I was expecting something better for the Highland Park 20 year old, but It was still very good, lots of fruits, a bit of smoke, very light. Good whisky, just not head blowing.

Goodbye, Laphroaig 18. During our short time together, you were a good and faithful friend. Even though you were a smoker, everything you did for me was in good taste. Know that your spirit will be kept alive by the remaining brethren on my shelf, some older, some younger, but all delicious. I shall miss you, and will endeavor to replace you as quickly as possible.

Finished my Duncan & Taylor Cragganmore 18 with my in-laws last night. Sad to see it go but happy to share the last drops with good people. My in laws are redoing my back garden over the week they're here, I've committed to paying them in spirits, wine, and food.

Finished off another bottle of Four Roses Yellow Label tonight. It only took us two weeks to finish this one. I guess all the experimentation with Mint Juleps helped. :-)

Bruichladdich Resurrection 7yo. & if this young Whisky is anything to go by, expect big things from this distillery: It tastes more like a 10yo. than a 7yo. and is scrumptious!

@A'bunadhman Have you tried the new Laddie Ten? I haven't myself but it's on my list. Apparently a fantastic dram and again, a great sign for the future of progressively older releases of "new" Bruichladdich malts.
