I just finished off a Lagavulin 16, an immediate favorite, over the weekend. This will be back in my cabinet soon, though I may try out another of the Islay "holy trinity" first. Ardbeg Uigedail perhaps?

@misslauren Can't go wrong with the "Oogie". Or may I recommend a cask strength Caol Ila? Part of Islay's Awesome Foursome (TM)!

@systemdown I'm definitely a fan of Caol Ila. Any cask strength versions you'd recommend?

@misslauren I loved the Elements of Islay CI1, bottled at over 60% ABV from memory. The CI2 sounds great although it's bottled at a lower ABV of 50% - depends on availability where you are of course. The official "Cask Strength" versions are getting better and better and should be available. I'm really keen myself to try some independent bottlings of Caol Ila as well because there's some good ones out there but I think they're just harder to obtain.

@systemdown: Not yet. The young guy at Vintage Cellars got a couple in for me but they were the old ten - He had a couple of Infinity 2nd. edn., which we quite like, so I took them instead.
Cheers.

A bottle of Eagle Rare 10 has followed the 4R Yellow Label into oblivion. I really need to pick up a new "everyday" bourbon.

Just finishing up my Lagavulin 16 which makes me surprisingly sad. If I could only drink one bottle for the rest of my days I'd have a hard time choosing between this and the Uigeadail.
But since that would be a stupid situation, I'll just buy both again :P

Finished my Macallan FO 15 last night with my father in law...he was in town to visit and fix my garden, whisky and food was my payment to him. :-)

We finished off a bottle of Glenkinchie 12 on Sunday. We probably will be buying another bottle in the future.

Finished a bottle of PVW 15 yo with my brother in law. He's from Ecuador but now a fan of good bourbon.

I also tend to let the good bottles get down to the last dram and hold them that way. Often times that's because I want to compare them to something not yet opened or purchased, but sometimes, it's because I can't stand to be out of them and they're a bit pricey to always keep in stock. I'm lingering over an exquisite batch of A'bunadh plus a Lagavulin 16 that I can't bear to empty out.
The less-expensive (or non-impressive ones) are actually the easiest to empty. I didn't linger over the disappointing Old Pulteney, for example, and I didn't mind finishing off the better-than-expected Bruichladdich Rocks.

Was away for a short break recently. Pick up a bottle of Lagavulin 12yo. bott. 2011, which i believe is the 11th release. It is quite a remarkable whisky. Although powerful, it was still a fairly easy drinking. Finished it alone in 3 days... yum!
Yes, I did pick up another bottle on the way back. That should stay in my whisky cabin for a while now...

Famous Grouse (used for mixing) in April 2012, and my bottle of Talisker 10 (which was given to me when I finished my MA) in March 2012.

Just finished a 200ml bottle of Talisker 10. The taste was decent enough, but the nose was outstanding - pears and golden delicious apples. I am looking forward to getting my hands on a bottle of the 18 year.

Just finished the last glass out of a bottle of Ardbeg Cory. Lovely stuff, also now I have 6 green Ardbeg bottles mounted on the top of the bookshelf.

Clynelish 14. Always on my shelf. Always replaced. Easy drinking.

Auchentoshan Valinch Ltd. Edn. I enjoyed this Malt enormously - A very good example of an extremely well balanced and complete Whisky; in total harmony and with great old-fashioned flavor, it simply oozes class!
And, the color. This is the brightest gold I have ever seen: The clarity and sparkle are almost beyond belief and the Creme brulee nose and toffee swirls through the palate have been well documented and the firm flavorsome clean long finish can only make me wonder what 4 or 5 yrs. extra maturation might have done - It's very good as it is but I do wonder...

@A'bunadhman, excellent to hear about the Auchentoshan Valinch. It really makes me look forward to the bottle my buddy from the North will be bringing me later this summer.

I finished off a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 earlier this week. It had gotten so spicy with oxidation I used it as a mixer to have the last few drams.

Just finished a bottle of Basil Hayden bourbon I received as a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. I've got about a dram of springbank 12 CS left too, which I'll have side by side with the 15 to see how they compare tonight.

Finished my bottle of Compass Box Spice Tree. Opened it on the 22nd for a tasting event where it was paired with a ginger-pear upside-down cake, and then brought the remainder with me to my parents-in-law's place where we had it with dessert: a hazelnut meringue with french vanilla ice cream and blueberries. Fantastic both times. Good thing I have a second bottle in reserve!

Wiser's Legacy finished today. A wonderful whisky, but a bottle should be finished in less than a year.

I just finished a bottle of Glenfiddich 15. I won't be buying another. It's not that it was bad, it's just that it didn't seem to have much to say to me. As one of my scotch buddies is fond of saying, "It doesn't beg me to have another."

Just finished my long-held bottle of Jura Superstition. It really improved after opened and the last half of the bottle was much more enjoyable than the first half.
