Bought and finished a bottle of Cragganmore 12 last night with a few friends. We got together to watch the final episode of Breaking Bad.... What a mind blowing episode! That was by far my favorite TV program of all time. Very sad that it has come to an end.

... as for the whisky, I really enjoyed it ; )

@CanadianNinja, yeah, Cragganmore 12, that is one of those "you don't have to think about it" kind of malts...just go right through it,...with your friends, of course.

I couldn't agree with you more @Victor, it was the perfect whisky for the occasion. Very tasty, very smooth, something that didn't require much thought. Just an enjoyable bottle to drink throughout the night.

Didn't so much as finish them, but I donated two bottles to a charity auction at work: Arran Machrie Moor 2nd Edition and Compass Box Peat Monster (2011 Label).

The last bottle I finished was a Dewars Double Oaked 12yr old. A really nice blend for every day drinking. :)

Good on you! I hope they hog a good price. Peat Monster is a good scotch, so you donated a quality product, not just something no one will want...

@Nozinan Thanks! I made sure that they were bottles that were decent, that were out of stock / limited stock at the LCBO and therefore not readily available in our area, and that I had two of in my own cabinet. I imagine since it is a charity auction they might go for a bit more than the list price at the LCBO, but we'll see.

My last dram of Forty Creek Confederation Oak. Started it about two and a half years ago. I would like to compare it with the new version, I hear it's a standard release now.

Maybe I'll buy a new one. I still have 2 special number bottles that I plan to give to my kids, and one random bottle to drink some year or two.

Now I can Focus on finishing off a few more heels, and then, maybe in a month or so, open something new?

WT. 101 Rye. I have more bottles of this excellent 'drop' secreted away! My local Super store has changed its' web page and now has WT. 81 Rye displayed - the latest count 'in store' was 9 on the shelf and their stock computer showed 21 in stock, all 101 Rye. I seem to be the only person buying it (?).

Slainte.

@A'bunadhman, and WHERE you are buying Wild Turkey 101 Rye seems to be just about the only place where there is any to be bought. WT101 Rye still isn't being seen anywhere near me in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US.

Bunnahabhain XII. A nice, smooth dram that was great for everyday drinking. I'm surprised it last the two years it did.

@Victor: At Dan Murphy's and when the Rye 101 is done, I'll be done too. 'Tis a very unhealthy trend short changing people who support your product, me especially! "It is the sort of behavior, up with which I will not put!" WC. (adapt.)

Cheers.

I really enjoyed my bottle of A'Bunadh batch 44. It went quickly, maybe the quickest of all 4 bottles I've opened. My first, 32, lasted almost a year. 38 was around for a while overlapped by 32. I opened 44 in April to celebrate birthday #44. And 6 months later all that remains is the heels in my glass and a 120 cc bottle decanted long ago... This was a good batch. Good thing a spare 44 is resting peacefully in my cabinet...

I have one dram left of this. Isn't it a stunner?I hope they release it again. I'm glad I found and bought a backup. That's the problem with having a backlog of bottles to try. If you liked them it's too late to get another.

While the Parker's Heritage 4th ed. is lingering (it shall be finished in the next 2-3 weeks), I have recently finished off a mini bottle of Yoichi 10 yo. Nice floral based profile, but a higher level of alcohol hit than I am used to, lowered the overall enjoyment of this one.

My first bottle of Port Charlotte 'An Turas Mor' also disappeared awhile ago, with an unopened bottle now taking the place of its fallen comrade. A Bowmore 12, Booker's Small Batch, and Glenfarclas 15 should also see their demise, along with the PHC 4th, by the end of the year.

Finished a few this week, Bruichladdich 10 yr, Dalwhinnie 15yo, Balvenie 14 Year Caribbean Cask. Have to make room for some new ones. Fortunately there was only a dram in each of these bottles but to my neighbors it looks like I'm an closet alcoholic. Thank god for lids on recycling containers. ;D

@Nozinan - the results of the Charity Auction are in: the Machrie Moor 2nd Edition sold for $84 after 17 bids (~$12 more than the list price at the LCBO, and there is only one other bottle in stock in the entire province), and the Peat Monster sold for $69 after 22 bids (~$9 more than the list price at the LCBO, but it is now out of stock there). They were the 3rd and 6th highest items up for auction (135 items total), and brought in 5.7% of the auction's total revenue ($153 of $2,692).

Not quite sure what I can donate next year...I guess I'll have to look at my inventory at that point and see what I can spare.

@YakLord, donate to your charity a tasting which you administer. I've donated whisky-tastings for my high-school's fund-raiser the last three years, which have, at live auction, raised $ 850, $1,250, and $ 1,000. Of course, if you want to bring in the big bucks, you absolutely need a live auctioneer and a first rate offering for the tasting. I donated a seminar and tasting of 25 whiskies for 6 persons delivered by me to the home of the purchaser, and I gave the commercial vaue at $ 600. They were happy to bid it up from there. If you don't have the bottles to cover a big tasting, borrow a few from friends. You could scale down the size, of course, but expect a lesser net contribution.
