Caol Ila CS 58% 200 cc bottle - Seems there was just one dram left. Poured it for a friend of my wife's visiting from out west. Now I'll just need a good opportunity to open one of the ones that arrived to replace it...

@Nozinan, perhaps I can force your hand to open another on Saturday Night.

@Nozinan, perhaps another time for the CI Cask Strength. I have a hunch we will be 'up Forty Creek' on Saturday night.

Aberlour A'Bunadh batch 36. Opened January 2014, 1 yr 10 months ago. I still have an archived sample.
This was not nearly my favourite batch and initially I was concerned about sulfur taint but that seems to be long gone. I just reviewed my review and it does seem to be pretty much what I'm smelling and tasting now.
I'm glad I traded my second bottle in for the 46 I opened up this year, which, though also not one of the better batches (after 44 and to some extent 45), allowed me to broaden my experience of AA batches.
I still have half the 46 and a little of the 45 to finish off. Hope I can do that before my 47th birthday (batch 47) or I'll have too many bottles open. Problem is that since I expanded my whisky experience to more styles, without increasing consumption I've had a hard time finishing 1 bottle of A'Bunadh per year.

Just finished a bottle of The Dalmore 12yo with the lads at work. First whisky I've finished since I started collecting. Considering I got it only about a month ago I'm very keen to try the Dalmore King Alexander. Does anyone know anything about it??

@Tom92 I really like the King Alexander, though like most Dalmores, it's a little expensive. And I prefer the 12 to the 15.

A spicy bourbon to go with a spicy cigar.

Has anyone noticed that there seem to be more bottles purchased or opened on this site then actually finished? Just observing....
I wonder what happened to all the open bottles.... actually, looking at my cabinet I have an idea.
If more whisky came in miniatures we'd be able to taste before committing to a full bottle that never gets finished.
Of course, if there were less variety of good stuff, I could finish bottles quicker too...

@sengjc Nice to see a fellow member enjoying a nice cigar with his whisk(e)y.

@Nozinan: Yeah, I noticed that too, but I'm not surprised at this trend. I'm part of this bandwagon too. I think one of the reasons for this is us whisky lovers (have finished only three bottles so far though but am working on another three at the moment) want to get the good stuff before either you can't find them anymore or they become way too expensive (think Ichiro's / Hanyu's and Karuizawa's). Not only are there more and more new NAS offerings (including those replacing existing age statement products), recent age statement releases seem to have lost their touch in terms of quality. I see quite a lot of reviews that prefer previous years' release versus the current ones. I prefer to stock up whatever good stuff I can find now (quality over quantity for me), and then to slowly drink from this reserve over the next several years while only occasionally picking up new stuff to try them out.

@Nozinan
I have a bit of a collector streak so I am able to relate to this observation. One thing though, I make it a point not to have too many open bottles at any one time, usually having 4-6 bottles open and finishing one before I open another.

Recently emptied: Booker's, Masterson's 10 YO Rye, Weller SR, and Highwood Ninety. Currently 80+ open bottles in my cabinet and there can be an extended period of time between finishing bottles, but I can safely say each of the aforementioned whiskies are repeat offenders this year.

Eagle Rare 10 - a good but not great everyday bourbon. A little bit harsh in the beginning but smoothed out over time and became more enjoyable (letting it sit for 20 minutes before sipping also made quite the difference). Would not recommend versus other bourbons enjoyed but one can do worse. Think I might open the John J Bowman Pioneer Spirit next

Thanks to Nozinan et al for making me re-assess consumption vs collection consumerism - as a result, I have not purchased anything since NY trip (albeit friends have generously brought back bottles from various trips). LCBO price and selection has a part in it as well but the realization that I have about ten years worth of drinking on current volumes (which includes very generous sharing), and my 'only on trips' challenge has been successful. That typed, going to Cleveland at the end of November and will be looking for a Blue Hour Anejo (unbelievable tequila) and perhaps an Angel's Envy (a bourbon fav that 4 of us polished off in one night - much to my post-chagrin)

At poker last night decided to have a 'Finishing Night' - we enjoyed the last of Balvenie 21 Portwood (rate the 47.6% as a more enjoyable dram to the 40%), Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt (has a very nice feel and taste) and Don Julio 1942 (one of my preferred tequila's - although need to find a bottle of the Blue Hour Anejo next).

Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist 2008 release, 18 year old, my first bottle of two of these, and Amrut Intermediate Sherry Matured Single Malt, Batch # 2. Happily with the help of @plattevillepeat I have a back-up bottle of the Batch # 2. As for the empties, R.I.T. = Requiescat In Tummy.

Willett 25 Yr old Rye barrel 1780. Some of the darkest juice I have ever had and some of the best.

@victor. ANB, my all time favourite Ardbeg. I wish I'd loaded up when it was around. Just finished BenRiach 15 yo Pedro Jimenez finish. I think I prefer the 12 yo sherry matured version.

Talisker 10, my first and only 750 ml bottle, open now about 5 years. I've had Talisker 10 out of about 6 or 8 different bottles, and I've never understood those who refer to "good old dependable Talisker 10." In my experience it is the most variable chameleonlike whisky I have encountered, with the possible exception of Jack Daniels Old No. 7.
The best Talisker 10 I've had has been great. Some others have been all over the place, and might as well have been 6 or 8 different whiskies. This bottle started out locked up and then blossomed at bottle open 7 months. It has been good ever since.

A'Bunadh batch 52. Very good to excellent but it has gone up over $20 a bottle since I purchased this one. Really enjoyed this cask strength sherry bomb but due to it now being $113 (out the door) for me may not be replacing. Sad.
