@Victor Have you tried the RR Single Barrel Rye, not bad at all. Am working on a bottle that has been opened for about 2 years and it gets better every new pour.

@Astroke, no I haven't tried any of their single barrel products, but I am a fan of the Wild Turkey Rye house style. I would say it is just a matter of time before I taste some of those Russell's Reserve single barrel ryes.

I finally polished off my bottle of The Six Isles malt blend. I say "finally" because I kept topping it up with other malts that I wasn't loving on their own, especially Laphroaig QC and Lagavulin 8. I think I had dumped some "Double Barrel" Bowmore + Highland Park stuff in there too.
By the end, the version with my additions was better than the original recipe and better than each malt I added! Good stuff.
And Islay & Orkney were already part of the original six isles represented in the recipe, so I figure it was still "The Six Isles" even after my customizations.

Aberlour A'Bunadh batch 47. A very good batch. I intended to open it when I turned 47, but I only got to it last year when I was almost 48.
I still have a little of the 46 left, which should last me until I open the 49 in a couple of months...

My wife and I have been in Mexico for 3 1/2 weeks and somehow I have managed to knock off my litre bottles of Ardbeg 10 and Craigellachie 13. I actually had some help from some friends and herself who is rapidly acquiring the taste for the good stuff. Looks like we’ll be getting into the Balvenie 12 DW I bought to take home. Might now also look up some of @Victor’s Tequila recommendations.

Last night had the last dram of a bottle of the standard unpeated Amrut 46% abv from a bottle split.
Really juicy, dried ginger, lemon and the oak is well balanced. Very punchy even at this ABV.

@cricklewood Yeah, the standard Amrut is pretty good. The CS is phenomenal (especially the 2007 edition), and the single casks....oh my...

@Alexsweden Enjoyed... gone now. One day I'll come cack to my reserve bottle. Maybe when I'm 94...

William Larue Weller, 2007 release, 58.95% ABV. This bottle was owned by my sister. I had the last 30 ml of it today at her house. So fabulously beautiful.

Writer's Tears Cask Strength 2012 release, 54%. Opened May 22, 2016, at the Ontario Summit. This bottle had some great memories, but it's gone now. Luckily I still have the 2013 and 2014 releases.
Just a note to anyone who has seen this listed at the LCBO. I got this for less than half the price at Fine Drams via Florida.

I finished my Glenfarclas 12 last night. It was a bottle that definitely got better with time and air exposure. I would buy this one again.

@OdysseusUnbound try the 15 if you can get it for a decent price. Sooooooo good. Better than the 17 or 21.

I almost bought the 21 in January. It was a very reasonable price, but still beyond what I’m generally willing to pay for alcohol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the 15 in stores...

@OdysseusUnbound I have a 15 YO mini I ordered years ago when I had a mule that made frequent runs to the UK. I have tried it from a sample someone gave me so I could make it available.

@OdysseusUnbound The SAQ often has the 15yo available if you ever make a trip out Ottawa way. I bought a bottle of the 21yo last year and have really enjoyed it, though I haven’t had anything else in their range to compare to it.

@OdysseusUnbound I’m sure it’s been said before: the 15 is the sweet spot in the Glenfarclas lineup. I hope you find some somewhere sometime.

@OdysseusUnbound , @Nozinan Glenfarclas 15 is available at the SAQ for 103$. Let me know if you want me to grab a bottle for you.

@OdysseusUnbound I bought it a couple years ago from the KGBO for $105. It’s sooo good. They stock it throughout the year on and off. The 21 is ‘cheap’ so far as 21yo scotches go, but it’s not as good as the 15.

@Victor I should have extend the offer to you as I know you really like the 15 yo.

I just had the last dram of Maker's 46. I didn't like that bottle at first but it was very nice at the end. As a wheated bourbon, I will try to get Weller 12 to replace it as it is way more to my liking.

My Laga 8 will go later. A decent one but not one I'll be in a hurry to replace. As @Robert99 suggested it might, it has improved a little with time - more smokey.
I was struggling to kill off the last fifth of my Jura Superstition, and getting impatient for the 'open bottle' space, so made an executive decision: It will now be used for 'guests', cooking and experimenting.
I made a lovely whisky based sauce with some Shiitake mushrooms, bacon and chicken liver the other day. First time I've used whisky in cooking but it worked quite well.

Well, I have said goodbye to Agni in a bottle. I have finished the last dram of a bottle of Amrut Peated Cask Strength. It's a great whisky. Recommended.

@NamBeist One of my favourites. My second bottle, decanted, is a few drams away from being history.

Finished a bottle of Aultmore 12 tonight. I got this bottle for free, in an unusual manner. I’m a member of several Facebook whisky groups and I asked about Aultmore 12 on one of them awhile back. Someone noticed my location and offered to give me a bottle, no strings attached, as he happens to live in he same town as I do. He got the bottle as a gift for Xmas 2016, took 2 drinks from it, and decided he didn’t like it. So the bottle was a bit over a year old when I got it in January or February of this year. It was almost full and was, to my palate, an excellent example of a “no frills” scotch. No Sherry, no peat, just simple malt whisky. Quite good at 46%, natural colour etc. A little “spiky” on the palate, but very pleasant nonetheless. I gave the donor in question 2 samples as some kind of compensation: Redbreast 12 Cask Strength and Glenfarclas 12. I feel I got the better end of the deal.

@OdysseusUnbound I tasted this at a showcase called "The last great malts of Scotland". A friend had a ticket and couldn't use it. Everyone who stayed to the end got a bottle, a small bottle of water, and some literature.
I gave the sealed bottle to a colleague knowing I'd likely never get to it, and for sure I'd never get through it. I'd accept if offered though. not bad, just not spectacular.
