My last bottle was an Auchentoshan 12 yo Classic. I bought a Linkwood 15 instead

@Gerrit Your Auchentoshan was either a 12 Year Old or a Classic. It's not the same. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed it.

I have just finished a bottle of Jura 10 year old. This was a bottle bought last Christmas as part of my initial single malt journey. At first I wasn't too keen on it, but over the last 10 months of tasting a number of different single malts I have grown to love it and really enjoyed the last few drams. I will be replacing it soon. I am now planning to finish a Laphroaig Quarter Cask. Another one I will replace.

I just bid farewell to my Jameson Gold Reserve that was given to me by my brother about two years ago. It was a great classic Pot Still Irish whiskey. I will have to have a dram or two at its wake...

Glenlivet 12, Longrow CV, Kilchoman KWM bottling. Its been a busy week, and my collection is looking somewhat the worst for wear.

Last bottle I finished was a Lagavulin 16 .. I still prefer Caol ila 12 over the Lagavulin 16 .. if style and similarity is involved.

Just killed a Caol Ila 12, and I miss it dearly. Yet to crack another although the girlfriend got me that and an Ardbeg Uigeadail last week as an anniversary gift. About to polish off a Laphraoig Quarter Cask and my Glenmorangie is very low. My drinking habit is getting to be too expensive...

Yesterday I finished the bottle Talisker 10 yo. It will be replaced bij another one, maybe different year. But I liked it very much. What strikes me most is the peated taste but the nose was not that peated. I read about the didtillers edition of a Coal Ila double matured with a finish on Moscatel casks. I'm curious about that one. Or is it only available in the Netherlands?

Just retired a Barolo-finished Edradour 11yr, Straight from the Cask bottling for Binny's. A bit heavily sherried and monodimensional for me. Edradour sweetness still came through, but it had to work at it....

Just finished off a bottle of Oban 14. I replaced it with a Caol Ila 1996 Distillers Edition, but I am sure there is more Oban 14 in my future...

@Gerrit This is the 1996 distillers edition I just purchased. The guy at the store described this as "Caol Ila on steroids", and I can't disagree. If you love the peaty, spicy, honeyed flavor of the Caol Ila 12 you can't go wrong with this.

I just finished a bottle of Nikka Pure malt black. This is a whooooooorufa dram. Delute it ...... like 2 teaspoons to a good dash and it will open up .... it will give alot more that drunken neat. I will certainly have this bottle available in my cabinet .. many people have chosen this as 1st choice in blind tasting.

It is very sad to see the end of it, but, despite gentle nursing and careful conservation, I am now finishing off this dear bottle of Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX. Goodbye, my beautiful friend!

A Bowmore 2002 from Murray McDavid aged 6 years and finished in Chateau Margaux casks. It's a fairly decent malt, but too mono dimensional in my opinion. A part from the strong wine influence and the, not so strong, smoky and briny notes, there's not much to it. I'm think I'm with Serge on red wine finishes...they seem to overpower the underlying malt.

Just poured out the last of my JW Blue to brighten up a dull day. Love the stuff, but at that price if I ever own it again it will be because someone gave me a generous gift.

The Glenlivet Nadurra. I also left some overnight in the glass and no residue was remaining when I checked the glass in the morning.

I am now finishing off my first 750 ml bottle of standard Alberta Premium 100% rye mash whisky. This is the one I reviewed, and the first ever review of an Alberta Distillers product on Connosr. This bottle is, I have found, much much drier than all subsequent batches of Alberta Premium which I have tasted. I rated this bottle 88 in my review and would keep to that score. The more typical sweety sweety, caramel-added, winey-added batches would have to get a score from me more like 82.

Working on the last of my BenRiach 16yr. Quite lively and tasty. The 16 is a bit less punchy as the 12 as it should be, but I think this evening I prefer the 12.

Dear, sweet Ardbeg 10. I hardly knew ye. (Or maybe I knew ye a bit too well...)

I think I'm going to replace it with another Islay, but maybe not the same one. And probably not immediately: better to deplete the stock I have now before they, I dunno, go bad or something.
