@Nozinan The old codes still implied dates. C04-J-19, if I recall means that the batch was barreled in Oct 19, 2004. I forget what the C meant.

@Jonesz Yes, actually I never did read any reviews even before buying the first bottle--I was just so happy to get my hands on another Glendronach (a brand not normally accessible to me). It was brought in as part of the annual "Premium Spirit Release" offered by the BCLDB--but of course, as none of their branches close to me were participating, I had to get it special ordered in (an iffy process with these folks, sometimes they will, sometimes they won't).
Like I said, I didn't find the flavours to be quite as crisp and clean as the Revival, but still there is a strength of character which I found also in the Revival which appeals to me. I'd love to try some of the other Glendronachs, but mostly I'd love to get my hands on another bottle of the Revival 15.

C04-J-19 was for sale en mass at LCBO in 2013, so I doubt it was bottled in 2004...

Aberlour A'Bunadh batch 53. Too many sterling reviews to ignore.

@SKEPTIC It is very possible. Note that I said the old naming convention implied the date the bourbon was put in the barrel, not the bottle. The new naming system covers the bottling year. Oct 2004 plus 7 years = Oct 2011. Add a few months and you are into 2012 when the bourbon was finally dumped. Then take into account the bottling process and it could have been 2013 by the time it was available in Canada.

Quite right... I missed that too. We should have read your note more carefully.
My brother just brought over a bottle of 2015-04 from Calgary that my brother in law secured for me. For some reason there is less frenzy over Booker's there... After your comments I'm looking forward to trying it. with the right company, of course...

A new bottle of Longrow 18. A wonderful whisky that really is top class!
Also bought a bottle of Bunnahabhain 18. Have tried a sample earlier and I really liked it.

I've just ordered another couple of bottles of the wonderful Lagavulin 8 while it's still available. I added a Benromach 2005 Hermatage Wood and a bottle of the new BenRiach Cask Strength to the order. These days there seems to be a interesting whisky being released on an almost daily basis and it's starting to get a bit too expensive!

@maltmate302 That should be your worst problem. Here in Canada we are extremely lucky. We cannot ship whisky in from online retailers. I must be saving thousands...

@Nozinan I know I shouldn't be complaining about the vast availability of whisky to the UK consumer but it really is getting pricey. Can you honestly admit that there isn't a whisky I've just ordered that you wouldn't like to try because they're all very enticing to me!

@maltmate302 Honestly of the 3 you mentioned only the Lagavulin 8 appeals to me.
But seriously, I buy more than I drink already. I have minimal will-power. If the floodgates were to open, yes, I'd have access to all the ones I want to try, but I'd have less spending money and no room in my house, and I'd never get to half of it.
So now it's a treat when someone offers to "mule" a bottle from the UK. That's how I got my hands on the Benromach 10/100, which I intend to bring to the Ontario summit.

A bottle of the newish Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill Selection Batch FF0714 that I am quite impressed with based on the tasting I had last week.

Was downstate for a small band concert. In route to concert, stopped by a small, but usually well stocked liquor store from my past. Was looking to pick up bottle of Aberlour 12yo Non Chill Filtered for the weekend, which they had. Did not anticipate encountering two bottles of The Yamazaki 18yo in stock though. Cannot remember the last time I found a bottle available for sale during my occasional liquor store stops throughout the state. Opportunity was too good to pass on, and so I bought both.

@cherylnifer Excellent pick-up on the Yamazaki 18. You may have uncovered one of the last dinosaurs!

Just bought four bottles of Laphroaig 18 after reading the distillery discontinued it late 2015 on Wikipedia. Bought 4 bottles of The Glenlivet 12 on sale supposedly being replaced by NAS Founder's Reserve. Purchased Caol Ila 15 Unpeated CS NCF, Nadurra CS NCF, Smooth Ambler CS Single Barrel Bourbon, and Yellowstone 93 and 105. Love High Octane Fuel and Breakfast is the most important drink of the day!

Also ordered two bottles of Auchentoshan Classic as it has been discontinued by the distillery. Recommend no one pass up the chance to have at least one bottle of Yamazaki 12 in your arsenal since the 18 is almost history and someone had listed a Yamazaki 25 on eBay for $4500.00, not sure if it sold, and now there is a Yamazaki Limited Edition 2014 for $700+ listed.

Bowmore Laimrig has finally appeared at the LCBO and is now flying off the shelves. Flying and breaking it seems.
I found a store that had 5 or 6 available and I had a number of people to buy for so I asked for 4 to be put away. When I got there, there were none on the shelf and the gentleman only had 3 put away for me. Apparently, one bottle had "broken". I'm sure that's possible but I am a little skeptical. Could it be that someone else made a "better offer"?
Luckily there was another "KGBO" less than a half an hour away with a dozen in stock and they were happy to help me complete my purchase obligations...

Stopped by Summerhill to get a Benromach 10 only to find the cupboard bare. Went over to the Islay section and grabbed one of the dwindling supply of Bowmore Laimrig. So my loss was also my gain.

Finally able to cross the Redbreast 12 yo Cask Strength off my wishlist. Very excited to have an Irish whiskey in my cabinet again!

@Astroke
I am sorry you went as far as you did for the Benromach 10 which now has no listed bottles in Ontario. As a consolation I would be happy to set you up with a sample of the Benromach 100 proof 10 YO after I open it at the Ontario summit.
I thought I travelled far for Laimrig by going into Woodbridge! I hope you didn't just come into town for the whisky!

@Nozinan Funny that the online inventory said 10 bottles of Laimrig in Woodbridge. I called to put 1 on hold there and the lady said, "don't worry there are 5 left and I am sure 1 will be here tomorrow". Famous last words, I asked the manager to put 1 on hold for me as I suspect Laimrig will be gone within a few days.
I now know where those 5 bottles went @Nozinan :)

Great selections with Redbreast Cask Strength and Suntory Hibiki, 17 year old 'Kacho Fugetsu' special edition...the Japanese whisky must have cost you a kidney!

Just ordered myself a Springbank 16 year old fresh sherry cask at 54.2%. Delighted to get this one,my first ever single cask Springbank. These bottles usually sell out in seconds so I was more than happy to get it for a fairly reasonable 80 pounds which isn't too bad by Springbank standards!

Auchentoshan Valinch 2012 X 2 because I really enjoyed a sample sent from @Lars a year or two ago and it was just re-released by the MLCC in Manitoba.Cask strength @ 57.2% ABV, youngish but so good. It won't be around long.

I've just acquired the last 2 bottles of Smooth Ambler Rye that I can find anywhere in Europe. The distillery has stopped releasing this expression due to the fact that they have simply run out of stock. Also I've noticed that the price of High West Rendezvous Rye has increased by 25% in recent weeks. I hope that this situation can resolve itself in the next couple of years because rye is definitely one of my favourite styles of whisky. There's plenty of young 40% ABV rye about but the quality aged rye at affordable prices is fast disappearing!

Don't internalize the thought "they still had 4 or 6 bottles on the shelf" for granted. Stocks are disappearing and that is all they may have left waiting with a NAS filler. In Virginia, a control State, I can roam the ABC site for stores in 15 mile increments searching for those Discontinued, HTF, bottles. They do not list Glenfarclas 21 and 25 or Glendronach 15, 21, however they carry it on the shelf of some individual stores, just look for the stores that stock Rosebank 21 CS or Talisker 30 CS. If Virginia is any clue, the BEST large college and university towns in your State or country will likely carry some rare treasures.

The pound has recently clawed back a little bit of it's recent losses against the euro on the foreign exchange markets so I thought it time to make a purchasing foray into Holland. I'm really looking forward to trying a couple of ryes which are new to me. These are the Willett small batch 2 year old and the Millstone 100 rye. The Willett is particularly interesting in that it's the first spirit to be produced by the Willett distillery in 30 years and initial reviews are excellent. I've also ordered a Clynelish 14 OB, a Connemara peated , a Black Bush blend , an Amrut CS , Amrut Fusion, Glenfarclas 105 and a Glendronach CS batch 4 . With postage costs being high I really needed to order a few bottles to make it worthwhile!
