@Nickh, the balance within the photo is good as is, but I would have enjoyed seeing the Hibiki sitting on the Buddha's lap.

@Astroke That Balblair is amazing! Simply a wonderful whisky. I'm going to get a bottle of that juice for my self!

No purchases myself, but as birthday gifts this weekend I was given Balvenie 12 year Triple Cask, and Glenfiddich 15 Distillery Edition. I am also heading to Calgary tomorrow for work, and will likely be purchasing a few goodies there that I can't get here in Ontario!

I love my trips to Calgary. I always seem to find something that is still reasonably priced and impossible to find anywhere else (in Ontario that is). My BIL also keeps a lookout the rest of the year. Recent treasures:

  1. Lagavulin 8 for less than here

  2. Longrow Burgundy (a 14 YO at a good price).

  3. A very positively-reviewed batch of Nadurra 16 YO, also priced well.

And may you have many more excellent birthdays with lots of drams.

My two brothers went to Japan last week, these are what my younger brother bought for me. The real gem is the whisky next to Knob Creek SB, Old Ezra 15yo.

@mystycreek, that is one excellent haul! I am looking forward to your reviews. Old Ezra 15 yo? I've never seen Ezra Brooks beyond 12 years old (viz. Ezra B). Is that Old Ezra 15 yo a Japan-only release? Maybe an old one, from long ago, too. I am guessing that it is a Japan-only release, since the Japanese had a pipeliine to aged bourbon starting in the 1980s and before aged bourbon became popular in the US.

@Victor I think my Ezra 15yo is a new one. The old label says Ezra Brooks instead of Old Ezra, and my bottle has no paper seal on the neck.

@mystycreek, interesting. Both of those bottles of Ezra Brooks 12 and 15 yo look like new Japan-only editions.

These are what my older brother bought for me. My younger brother went to Kyoto and my older brother went to Tokyo, I asked them to look for Ichiro's Malt Chichibu, but it seems impossible to find one. Recently I have seen Chichibu The Peated in the local liquor store, but they asked for about $200 usd and I'm not very likely to pay that price.

I bought the Overeem Port Cask Matured Cask Strength as I passed on it a few years back and was kicking myself ever since. I find that port casks compliment Tasmanian whisky a lot.

The Glenmorangie Bacalta because I don't have many Madeira cask finished expressions and the Private Edition series is, to me, one of the only good dedicated NAS ranges out there

The G. Rozelieures Whisky de Lorraine out of pure curiosity.

@mystycreek I wonder how much the OGD 114 cost in Japan. It's extremely inexpensive in the US and one of my top 5 bourbons.

I entered a lotery recently and I was allowed one bottle of W.L.Weller 2016. I am very excited about it. The only problem is that they take my moneynright now but will delivered the goods only in August. That will be a long waiting. On the other hand, I was holding whisky money for more than one bottle, so I will probably buy a few ones to keep me waiting. wink

@Robert99 yep it's not easy to have good brothers willing to carry these many whiskies, and my cabinet is always open for them.

I received a Port Charlotte An Turas Mor (in a trade with @Pudge72 as partial payment for something I picked up for him in Calgary, I'll let him do the honours with that one!) And purchased for myself while travelling was the Port Charlotte 10 Year Old Limited 2nd Edition. Bruichladdich is my favourite distillery and for $95 I couldn't turn down a 10 year old PC!

@mscottydunc , $95 for the new 10-year-old Port Charlotte? Is that American or Canadian?

@mscottydunc

@Ol_Jas Canadian, plus 5% GST, so just under $100 all in.

Bought two old miniatures last weekend, Wild Turkey 101 8yo and JW Black 12yo Extra Special ,both from the 90s I believe. This JW Black is a plastic bottle, and I haven't collect any plastic bottle miniature before.

Just bought Sagamore Spirits Cask Strength Rye. Why? Because I love rye, it's my favorite whiskey. I've had their regular rye, and it was quite good, so when I saw the cask strength I had to have it! Will open it Saturday.
