@OdysseusUnbound Don't believe it. I got the same email. Probably someone Phishing...

Either that or there are going to be 2 happy Connosrs....

Picked this up today, don't believe this has ever been in Ontario before. I noticed the 62.5% ABV on the bottle had been covered with a sticker stating 61.8% ABV from the LCBO lab no doubt.

Well, I just tried to buy three bottles of Kilkerran WIP #7 Bourbon Cask Strength, which popped up for $75 each at K&L.

But they don't ship spirits outside of California anymore!?!?!?!?! Nooooooooooooooooo...

If anyone in California wants a fantastic whisky, jump on it NOW:

@MadSingleMalt that is a shame. I've still got my bottle squirreled away for later - but not too much later . As you suggested it sounds perfect for autumn

Is anyone here in California?

It looks like I can hold my precious, precious Kilkerrans in my cart for the moment at least, and still buy them with local pickup or in-state shipment. Any Connosr-Californians want to work out a deal here?

I'm open to all kinds of interesting arrangements, including you claiming one of the Kilkerrans. This is one of my absolute favorite whiskies of the past few years. As far as I know—and I have looked around a bit—these might be the final bottles available anywhere in the world. They made 6000 to begin with.

Oh, if only I lived closer to California! Like, say, Oregon! @BlueNote, am I right or what?

@MadSingleMalt I'd love a piece of that action. I'm in the Vancouver BC area, quite a long way from Oregon. My connection is my sister in law who lives in Hood River Ore. I'll check the Oregon Liquor listings. I do have a friend whose son lives in LA and she goes down there pretty regularly. I'll see what I can do. The trickier bit would be getting the stuff to you. We are a long way apart. Maybe you are due for a little holiday on the west coast. sunglasses

@BlueNote, thanks! It would be fun to meet up sometime or do a swap deal or whatever. But really, I was just alluding the conundrum I face by living here in Wisconsin when the whisky I want to buy is so far away on the west coast.

@Astroke, how about giving us a review of that 1792 Full Proof. I'd really like to know what you think of it. Barton is coming in very competitively-priced (here) with this one. In my county it costs about US $ 40, but is a lottery item. I see that the price at the LCBO is also relatively within reason.

@MadSingleMalt Yes but you seem to have a lot of excellent well priced whisky in Madison.

@MadSingleMalt

@BlueNote, true. And I can get much of what I want by simply going to one of my local retailers, instead of dealing with the rigmarole of muling things from better markets.

Cheers to embracing our own markets, and indeed, our identities!

@Victor This is a real fruity Bourbon. Definitely needs 10 min to sit to clear out the ethanol tone. Usual caramel palate with a blast of cherry and spice. This does not drink like 62.5%ABV (err 61.8%). Not as thick a mouth feel as Stagg Jr or ECBP but they need water (IMO) and this does not. With a few drops of water this smooths out a bit but the flavors remain strong. I am impressed with this one and thought it would need months of air time but no. Nice sipper right from the start. May pick up another based on this price.

@Astroke, thanks very much for your prompt response! That's very good to hear that you like it. Cherry, you say. One can never have too much 60+% ABV whisk(e)y!

@Victor I disagree. As someone with 40 bottles of 60+% whisky, and another 7-8 AT 60%, I can definitely say that at some point one can have too much...

Not to mention, too much AT ONE TIME... smile

@Victor I will say that this 1792 Full Proof reminds me of Four Roses.

@Nozinan, only 48? I'll be happy to take 40 of them off your hands!

@Astroke, interesting. That is a flattering comparison. I haven't had much Barton bourbon. Other than standard 1792 we just don't see it here where I live.

@MadSingleMalt Just did the Oregon liquor search. The only Kilkerran listed is the 12 at the unusually high price for Oregon of $83. I only paid something in the low 70s Can for it recently in Calgary.

@Nozinan I did a count of 60%+ ABV whiskies and I have a paltry 20 out of 250+ bottles. Pathetic!

@Astroke pathetic....

I haven't cracked the 200 bottles threshold yet (if you don't count open bottles). I hope that I never will, because I will regret not having tries so many of the bottles I bought.

@Nozinan I counted open bottles, 250 bottles is the result of many poor choices over the years.

@Nozinan, @Astroke, about the 60% ABV whisky, I probably only have around 35-40 bottles of it currently on hand myself. At least 14 of those are above 70% ABV. There are 8 more bottles between 68 and 70%% ABV.

Probably 15 bottles above 60% ABV have been consumed here in the past, however.

@Astroke, @Victor, @Nozinan,

I have scores of bottles lingering on my shelves, many resulting from what @Astroke coined, "the result of many poor choices over the years." I have more than 30 bottles above 60% abv, only two of which are 70% and above; however, none of these 60%+ bottles are consider by me to be poor choices. All are highly desirable with about a dozen currently open. That's an eye opener if ever I saw one.

@paddockjudge @Nozinan I'm sure we all have stuff we paid good money for that we have been consciously ignoring. Lately I've done a bit of trading with friends with the same problem. I agree, a thread on the subject of "What have you bought that you have been avoiding?" or 'What have you bought that you don't like?" would be interesting.

A Highland Park 12, Johnnie Walker BL 12 and Mackinlay's Malt Blend all for £70. All on offer over the weekend at a local supermarket with the latter being something of a curiosity, if nothing else (also came with a rather heavy bottomed blue tinted rocks glass that my better half is already enjoying with a G&T!)

I'd consider the first two as good, honest staples and hard to resist at that price.

Not a purchase but a very gratefully received gift from #WhiskySanta at Master of Malt. Proof that he does exist. I liked the look of this and have a soft spot for Deanston, it being one of the more lovely distilleries I’ve visited myself.
